Nick TC-Scan (Gambia) Ltd. is proud to announce the successful conclusion of a 3-days Orientation Program on 7th August 2025, leading to the promotion of four dedicated team members to the role of Scanning Marshalls at our Scanning Unit in Banjul Port.
These individuals, who previously served as Security Officers, have now taken on a more technical and strategic role within our operations. This transition not only highlights their personal growth and commitment but also reflects our company’s mission to foster upward mobility and internal capacity development.
A Strategic Move Toward Empowerment
At a time when there were no ongoing requirements for Security Officers, rather than initiating layoffs, our leadership made a bold and socially responsible decision: retrain and promote. By transitioning these roles into the critical function of Scanning Marshalls, we are not only preserving jobs but also equipping our staff with valuable skills that contribute meaningfully to national trade security.
A Strategic Move Toward Empowerment
This move aligns directly with our values of:
-
Empowerment: Offering growth opportunities from within
-
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Reducing unemployment risk and supporting Gambian youth
-
Sustainability: Building long-term talent for national development
What Roles Do Marshalls Play
Our Scanning Marshalls play a vital role in:
-
Operating and overseeing non-intrusive scanning systems
-
Assisting in cargo inspection processes
-
Ensuring compliance and security at our scanning checkpoints
-
Supporting the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) and customs officials
These responsibilities are essential in maintaining the integrity of our scanning operations while upholding The Gambia’s trade and revenue frameworks.
A Model for Progressive Workforce Development
This promotion initiative is a clear example of how private sector entities can lead by example in job creation, upskilling, and sustainable employment practices. Nick TC-Scan continues to be at the forefront of innovation and inclusive growth, particularly in sectors tied to national development and security.
“At Nick TC-Scan, we believe in building people while building systems. Today’s promotion is more than a job title—it’s a statement of trust in our people and their potential,” – Management Team, Nick TC-Scan (Gambia) Ltd.
Conclusion
By investing in our people and recognizing potential within, we’re creating a stronger, more resilient workforce ready to shape the future of trade logistics in The Gambia. We congratulate our newly appointed Marshalls and look forward to their contributions at the heart of operations in Banjul Port.
